My acting journey – in brief

Acting degree

I received a BFA in Acting from DePaul University the year after The Hollywood Reporter ranked us 17th best acting conservatory in the world.

But once I hit the professional scene in Chicago and LA, battle-scarred actors put me in place: ‘You know acting school doesn’t mean anything’ (70% correct).

Though one of our (prolific) professors once openly reprimanded my acting (while I was shirtless) in front of the entire cast: ‘You’ll be the fat guy in the sitcom… but you’ll never touch art.’

Oof.

A reaming that improved my acting twofold in less than twenty-four hours.

Professional career

I signed with Chicago’s leading talent agency, booked some speaking roles on TV, a national theatrical tour, and earned my SAG card. I also had a speaking role in a national KFC commercial (“I told you, Terry“) among other regional commercials and (sometimes odd) productions.

In February of 2018 I received an email from a management company claiming TV/Film didn’t need white dudes anymore. Around the same time, my Groundling’s improv instructor told me, “You got a really great voice, man.” So… I pivoted my career for better.

Result: I became a successful audiobook actor. I’ve since recorded over 70 audiobooks with hundreds of positive reviews (like this title).
